The Tour season has essentially ended. Now, the top 125 in the FedEx standings advance to the first of four events starting this week at the Barclays in Farmingdale, NY, at the very difficult Bethpage Black GC. Matt Kuchar won this event back in 2010.

The top 100 in the FedEx standings after the Barclays will advance to Deutsche Bank Championship Labor Day weekend. The top 70 (with no cut after 36 holes) will move on to the BMW Championship Sep. 8-11 and then of course the final 30 make it to the Tour Championship at East Lake CC in Atlanta.

The points are distributed differently (read: more) for placing higher in these FedEx events. This will be particularly important for all of our GJ's to keep advancing, less Kuchar who is in the top 20 already heading in.

4 Golfing J's will be playing this week at The Barclays: (with their current FECS in parenthesis)

  • Matt Kuchar (18)
  • Roberto Castro (53)
  • Bryce Molder (79)
  • Cameron Tringale (107)

Note, Matt Kuchar is still in the running for inclusion on the USA's Ryder Cup team...a team Kooch has been a part of in the last 3 events (2010, 2012, 2014). Kooch is 11th on Team USA's standings. The top 8 after this week's Barclays event automatically make Team USA. Here are the current Ryder Cup standings for Team USA... http://www.pgatour.com/stats/stat.131.html

CBS will have weekend network TV coverage this week. The weather on Long Island is forecast to be clear and gorgeous the entire 4 days.

Good luck to our GJ's this week.

All 4 of our GJ's will be teeing off in the afternoon session on Thursday and in the morning session on Friday...

Thursday tee times
Molder 12:00pmET
Castro 12:22pm
Kuchar 12:44pm
Tringale 1:28pm*

Friday tee times
Molder 7:20am*
Castro 7:42am*
Kuchar 8:04am*
Tringale 8:48am

All 4 of these guys will join Ollie Schniederjans with Tour cards next season (starting October 13-16 at the Safeway Open at Napa, California).

Castro, Molder and Tringale all missed the cut. Tringale will not advance to the 2nd FedEx event next week. Molder will have to wait and see. His projected ranking right now is 96th. Castro will play next week.

Kuchar at +2 thru 2 rounds is sitting right atop the cut line, so he should play this weekend...though, he is way back and will be teeing off with one of the first groups Saturday morning.

Disappointing showing for our guys on Long Island this week.
