Tech already has 3 alums qualified for the upcoming US Open to be held June 18-21 just outside of Tacoma, WA. Those are Matt Kuchar, Cameron Tringale, and Ollie Schniederjans (auto invite as top amateur...will also get same for The Open in July at St. Andrew's.

Five Jackets will tee off Monday in hopes of qualifying for the US Open at Hawks Ridge GC in Ball Ground, GA. They will compete over 36 holes with a morning and afternoon session. This sectional has a total of 42 participants

Tee times are as follows...

Morning Session
7:30am James White teeing off #1
7:40am Roberto Castro teeing off #1
7:40am John Tyler Griffin teeing off #10
8:10am Anders Albertson (a) teeing off #1
8:20am Drew Czuchry (a) teeing off #10

Afternoon Session
1:00pm James White teeing off #10
1:10pm Roberto Castro teeing off #10
1:10pm John Tyler Griffin teeing of #1
1:40pm Anders Albertson (a) teeing off #10
1:50pm Drew Czuchry (a) teeing off #1

Only a few of the 42 competitors will qualify. I don't know the exact number. Good luck to our Jackets as we hope to get more than the 3 who are already qualified.

Some updates at 10:40amET...

*Roberto Castro is looking good so far at Ball Ground, GA, sectional. -4 thru his first 9 holes and sitting in 1st place. This sectional has 42 players vying for 3 spots.
*John Tyler Griffin is -2 thru 9 holes and tied for 5th place also at Ball Ground.
*Stewart Cink is -1 thru his 1st 9 holes at Columbus, OH, sectional. There are 120 guys vying for 15 spots there. Lots of players there due to coming off the Memorial PGA event at Dublin, OH, over the past weekend. Lots of low scores there thru 9 holes though so Cink will have to play very well to get into the top 15 over his remaining 27 holes.

Go Golfing Jackets!

Looks like Roberto Castro is in great shape to qualify. He finished -12 and is tied for 2nd with one other player for one of the three qualifications to advance. The drop off to 4th is currently a 3-stroke advantage with those players with 3 or 4 holes left as of 5:30pmET. All other Jacket golfers are pretty much out of it though some good rounds registered. If Castro qualifies it means 4 Jackets will be in the American Championship.
